Sensory integration is very important, sensory integration is the foundation of all learning abilities!


For example, when children sit in the classroom and take notes, we can see the words written on the blackboard by the teacher visually, and we can hear the content of the teacher’s lessons. Methods and games suitable for sensory integration training for special children:


1. Playing catch games with others (1-2 years old)


Training purpose: social skills/arm movement ability.


Training requirements: Parents and children sit opposite, parents hand the ball to the child, encourage the child to pass the ball to the parent as well.


Difficulty setting:


(1) At the beginning, parents can put the ball directly into the child's hand.


(2) The parent stretches the ball to the child and encourages him/her to reach out to catch the ball.


(3) When the child takes the initiative to give the ball to the parent, the parent should say "thank you".


Help giving: If the child does not have the initiative to catch and give the ball, ask another adult to give physical guidance until the child starts to have the awareness of actively catching and giving the ball, and gradually withdraw the help given.


2. Able to push the "funky ball" to a finger 1 meter away 14. Set a place (2-3 years old)


Training purposes: develop social skills and hand-eye coordination (the ability to visually detect the speed of objects, the ability to react), and develop large movements-the elbow joint and arm mobility.


Training requirements: Children and their parents stand within 1 meter of each other, pushing and catching "funny balls". If necessary, have another adult assist the child's movements.


Difficulty setting: catch the ball within a certain range; B follow the verbal instruction to pick the ball back to the designated place.


Help give: Try to let the children catch the ball by themselves within a certain range, and give verbal prompts or physical guidance when necessary. If the child does not respond to instructions, physical guidance, oral and gesture prompts are required.


3, throw the ball 3 meters away (3-4 years old)


Training purpose: arm movement ability/hand-eye coordination ability.


Training requirements: Throw a small ball or bean ball to a distance of 3 meters.

Help give:


(1) At the beginning, if the child does not understand the movement of throwing the ball, teach it by hand.


(2) Draw a line in front of the child to remind him/her of the distance to throw.


(3) To encourage children to try, put a toy or snack next to the line as a reward.


4, do 5 forward rolls (4-5 years old)


Training purpose: to improve coordination and balance, and stimulate proprioception.


Training requirements: Let the children imitate the adult to do 5 consecutive forward roll movements.


Difficulty setting:


(1) Only 2-3 times are required at the beginning.


(2) Ask the child to do it 5 times in a row, and ask the child to keep the body as straight as possible during the action.


Help give:


(1) At the beginning, provide physical assistance throughout the process and encourage children to try.


(2) Try to let the children complete it by themselves, give verbal reminders if necessary, and pay attention to children’s safety issues at all times.


5. When pulling the rope forcefully, the rope can still be pulled (5-6 years old)


Training purpose: to increase the strength of the hand muscles and promote the development of the whole body muscles.


Training requirements: Adults pull one end of the rope forcefully, and children can pull the rope at the other end.


Difficulty setting:


(1) At first, adults only pull the rope slightly, so that children can easily pull the rope.


(2) Adults pull the rope vigorously and encourage children to pull the rope vigorously.


Help give:


(1) You can draw a horizontal line between two people on the floor, and the child will win the prize by pulling the adult across the horizontal line.


(2) Encourage and praise children's attempts and success in time.


Note: During training, adults should cooperate with children's strength to prevent children from being injured by improper force.
